Welcome to Marigold Studio Notes
“Not just what you make—but how you make it. Present, purposeful, and entirely your own..” - Jesse Roque
Well. Here we are. I’ve been a chef, a restaurant owner, a caterer, a mom, a textile artist, and approximately one thousand other things — and somehow the logical next step was to build an art collective in the Blue Ridge Mountains and start a blog about it. Perfectly normal.
After 38 years in the restaurant industry,
I am ready for a change and with this blog I am going to take you on this journey with me. Here’s what this space actually is: it’s my life of loving beautiful things, collecting beautiful and interesting things, having a fabric and art supply obsession, it’s a little chaotic and organized at the same time, it’s me and you making something, collaborating, talking, friending, creating and it’s completely unapologetic. I’ll write about the materials I’m obsessing over, what’s happening in the studio, the weird and hilarious and completely unhinged things that happen when you’re building a creative business from scratch, and the hard stuff too — the frustrating stuff, the things that make me want to cry, and sometimes do. Because that’s real, and I am not a sugar coater. What you see, hear, and read is what you get.
Marigold exists because women who want to make things, have cocktails or mocktails, express opinions, and be a part of something creative and beautiful are my people. Let’s build a community. The studio is open, the classes are on the calendar — come make something beautiful with us.
